The liquid is fed in the axial direction for this type hollow cone nozzles. The spray formation is conical but the inner side of the cone has no liquid. The spray formation when it touches the surface being treated is circular only. The liquid distribution in the circular form is very uniform. The inner surface of the spray form with fine droplet creates a large contact area therefore these nozzles are commonly used in gas treatment applications. The specially machined S-groove insert inside the body is mainly the key element to form the hollow cone.

The spray formation is conical without any liquid inside the cone. The main difference is the body shape and feed line direction which is 90° deflected with respect to nozzle spray orifice. The body has also an inner orifice that is located eccentric to create centrifugal rotation to form the hollow cone spray. Since there is no additional internal piece inside the body, these nozzles are resistant to clogging.
