ISDEMIR has started quite big investments under the project of
Modernization and Transformation Investments (MTI) since 2004.
One of the investments was for Hot Strip Mill where the
coils having a thickness of 1,2 – 22 mm, a width of 700 – 2050 mm and a weight of max. 39 tons will be produced by rolling the slabs produced in Slab Casting Plant with the new Hot Strip Mill Plant which is the biggest project of the process of transformation to flat product in ISDEMIR.
The annual capacity of this plant is planned to be 3,5 million tons with 1 unit of Roughing Mill, 6 units of Finishing Mill and 2 units of Down Coiler in the beginning. Its capacity shall be increased to 4.5 million tons with the addition of 1 unit of Roughing Mill, 1 Unit of Finishing Mill and also 1 unit of Down Coiler in the future. Main contract was signed with MARUBENI-MITSUBISHI/HITACHI-SIEMENS consortium in May 30th, 2005.
